15 December 2020 | The EuroTeQ Engineering University project works together with 45 associations, companies, and non-academic education players to educate future engineers and offer lifelong learning possibilities to professionals. In the past weeks, the first co-creation workshops with local representatives took place at Eindhoven University of Technology and Technical University of Munich to lay the ground for the future collaboration.

Co-creation with industry and society is at the heart of EuroTeQ, which aims to create a virtual campus between six European universities and offer comprehensive advanced training for students, vocational trainees, and professionals.

Workshop at Technical University of Munich

On 12 October 2020, ten German associated partners of the EuroTeQ Engineering University came together for a virtual co-creation workshop to discuss the opportunities and potentials of future cooperation with representatives of the Technical University of Munich. The notion was to involve partners from industry and society as early as possible and let them share their ideas and expertise before the official launch of the project on 1 November 2020.

The workshop participants, which included representatives of Siemens, Infineon, VDI, and the Bavarian Chamber of Engineers-Construction, among others, were enthusiastically committed to the EuroTeQ idea. They see the project as a chance for creating a holistic educational system that brings forward the competences for the professional world of the future – the so-called ‘21st century skills’ – and may anchor lifelong learning as an integral part of the professional circle. Workshop at Eindhoven University of Technology

The workshop at Eindhoven University of Technology on 10 December 2020 had a similar goal. The participants from the regional ecosystem pointed out that the education of the future should provide a good command of basic knowledge and techniques while respecting different profiles and be internationally oriented. Students should be enabled to get in touch with system thinking early on and be trained to take the whole supply chain into account, placing their work in a larger, even global context. Different disciplines need to interact in order to allow talents to develop and tackle the grand challenges society is facing.
