In March 2026, educators from across the EuroTeQ alliance gathered at the Czech Technical University in Prague for the EuroTeQ Spring School: “Inclusive and Engaging Learning in the International Classroom.”

The programme brought together academic staff and didactical experts to explore key topics shaping the future of international education – from student motivation and active learning to inclusive teaching, hybrid learning design, and the role of AI in higher education.

Learning through collaboration and co-creation

The Spring School offered a dynamic space for educators to exchange experiences, co-create teaching approaches, and learn from diverse perspectives across Europe.

Through hands-on workshops and collaborative sessions, participants:

  • designed engaging hybrid learning experiences
  • shared practices for working with diverse classrooms
  • explored methods to facilitate group learning and student engagement
  • reflected on integrating international and interdisciplinary perspectives into teaching
  • identified new collaboration opportunities across the alliance.

As one participant noted: “It’s a great opportunity to connect with colleagues from other universities, exchange ideas, and learn from their experiences – something I can directly apply in my teaching.”

New tools, new perspectives

For many participants, the Spring School provided practical tools and a broader understanding of teaching in an international context: “I gained a new toolkit for teaching – a more holistic approach that includes hybrid formats and new technologies.”

The diversity of perspectives was repeatedly highlighted as one of the most valuable aspects: “Seeing different perspectives from different countries helps you realise that we are all dealing with similar issues – and that together we can find better solutions.”

Participants also explored how emerging technologies, including AI in education, can support more effective and engaging learning experiences.

Building a European teaching community

Beyond the workshops, the Spring School strengthened the EuroTeQ community of educators, fostering connections that extend beyond the event itself. “Collaboration across universities allows us to combine different perspectives and improve how we approach engineering education.”

For participants, the experience was not only about learning new methods, but also about building long-term partnerships: “If you want to share your ideas, learn from others, and get inspired – this is the place to be.”

The interactive format based on dialogue, teamwork, and experimentation encouraged participants to step outside their comfort zones and rethink their teaching approaches.

From inspiration to implementation

From the initial virtual kick-off to the final reflection sessions, the Spring School provided not only practical tools but also a shared vision: to create a more inclusive, engaging, and internationally connected learning environment for future engineers and professionals.

Participants returned to their home institutions with:

  • new pedagogical methods and tools,
  • ideas for co-created and hybrid courses,
  • inspiration to integrate international collaboration into everyday teaching.

Looking ahead

The EuroTeQ Spring School continues to play a key role in advancing innovative, inclusive, and collaborative teaching practices across the alliance. The next EuroTeQ Education Lab Seasonal School will take place at DTU in 2027.

Thank you to all participants, speakers, and organisers for their openness, curiosity, and expertise – this is what true collaborative learning looks like.
